Pursuing Bad Guys Book Study

THRC Members: $15 & Non-Members: $25

This book invites you to witness the journey of courageous educators and their vulnerable experiences working with their pedagogical leader as they explore the uncomfortable, unfolding of children’s quest to embody and pursue good guys and bad guys.

Through this journey you will encounter captivating traces of children’s experiences and discover new perspectives which honour children’s play as they aim to make sense of their world and their place in it.

Participants are required to pick up their copy of the book at The Halton Resource Connection during operational hours, prior to the first session.

Supporting Persons in Community Settings

This session provides staff members employed in recreational settings with information about Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as strategies for creating inclusive settings for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder to allow them to participate fully in their community.

As a result of participating in this session, participants will be able to:

  • list features of Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • describe strategies to support persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • identify possible strengths of persons with ASD to support participation in one’s community

Talking Circles with a Focus on the 7 Grandfather Teachings

Karen Marshall is a Indigenous Advisor and facilitator and has worked across Canada learning about and receiving teachings from many Indigenous communities...first with the RCMP and later in Indigenous Child and Family Services. Currently she is an Indigenous Specialist with the Canadian Red Cross and Team Rubicon. She also serves on the Board of Halton Child and Family Services.

Talking Circles will be a focused conversation about how we implement the spirit of reconciliation; addressing myths and misconceptions; activities and resources for young children.
